Brow Lift in Santa Monica

Gravity and loss of volume can cause the skin of the forehead to sag over time. This causes the brow to descend and the brow tissue to deflate, which leads to hooding of the upper eyelids and an angry, tired, or sad expression. One of the ways this can be treated is with a brow lift: a surgical procedure in which the forehead is elevated, reducing wrinkles and creases and creating a more youthful and rested appearance. This can be done endoscopically with a mini-camera, or open.

Though this procedure can vary by degrees of invasiveness, brow lifts typically involve repositioning the muscles of the forehead, and often entail volume augmentation and tissue removal. Elevating the brow can improve the heaviness of the upper eyelids, and enhance the effects of an upper blepharoplasty.

Ask the surgeons at Eyesthetica which custom approach is right for you.

Upper Blepharoplasty

An upper blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, is a procedure in which the excess skin and fat are removed from the top eyelid. The surgeon will make an incision in the natural crease of the eyelid to prevent visible scarring, remove the excess skin, and sculpt fat that has collected on the upper eyelid for the creation of a youthful, natural look. If a patient is a candidate for both an upper and lower blepharoplasty, they generally opt to do both at once for reduced recovery time.

Upper Bleph

Double Eyelid Surgery in Santa Monica

Double eyelid surgery is a special type of upper blepharoplasty which creates a crease in the upper eyelid where none previously existed. This helps to “open” the eye. Depending on the thickness and fat distribution of the eyelids, double eyelid surgery can be performed with a minimal incision to avoid visible scarring.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Droopy Eyelid (Ptosis) Repair in Santa Monica

Ptosis refers to drooping upper eyelids. Ptosis is caused by the stretching of the tissue and disinsertion of the levator muscle tendon, which is responsible for raising the eyelid. When the upper eyelids droop low enough to obstruct the pupil, it causes a decrease in the superior field of vision, trouble reading, and driving challenges, which can lead to headaches from having to constantly raise the brow to see. Before upper eyelid surgery, be sure your surgeon can assess eyelid ptosis as a cause for your upper eyelid appearance.

The surgical methods to repair ptosis vary depending on the extent of the eyelid elevation needed. Your eyelid surgeon will discuss with you in detail the type of surgical approach that is right for you.

Lower Blepharoplasty / Eye Bag Removal in Santa Monica

A lower blepharoplasty or “eye bag removal” is performed by removing the excess fat and skin beneath the lower eyelid, to reduce the appearance of puffiness or “bags” beneath the eyes. The amount of fat removed must be carefully calculated by the eyelid surgeon – as removing too much can cause a “hollowing” effect as the patient ages. Occasionally, the fat that is already there is repositioned or augmented to reduce the appearance of aging. Incisions are hidden by the lower lash line or inside the eyelid. Before proceeding with eyelid surgery, make sure your eyelid surgeon is a member of ASOPRS.

Lower Bleph

Midface Lift in Santa Monica

Midfacial lifting is reserved for patients in need of lower eyelid elevation and support. The procedure resuspends the lower eyelid, repositions deeper soft tissue, and augments the cheek. Ask your doctor if this procedure is right for you.

Mid Face

Fat Repositioning and Fat Transfer in Santa Monica

When fat is already present around or under the eyelids, it can be shifted into the hollow of the eyelid for a fuller appearance when there is fat deficiency or volume loss. These procedures are reserved for a select group of patients, and your surgeon will review treatment options with you.

Fat Repositioning

Fat Grafting in Santa Monica

Fat can be taken from other parts of the body and used to fill creases and wrinkles in the face. Fat grafting is comparable to other injectable treatments it creates a more vibrant, youthful appearance. Fat grafting carries a lower risk of infection than fillers because the fat is taken from other parts of the patient’s own body. If you’re debating between choosing fat grafting or fillers to meet your aesthetic goals, the surgeons at Eyesthetica can help you weigh your options.

Fat Grafting

Lip Enhancement in Santa Monica

The aging process can leave lips looking thin and lined. Lip enhancement is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips. Lip implants are an option for patients looking for fuller lips, but dermal lip fillers can also be an option based on the individual’s aesthetic goals. Ask your surgeon which option would be right for you.

Lip Fillers

Lip Reduction in Santa Monica

Surgical lip reductions involve removing mucosal tissue from the upper and/or lower lips in order to reshape the entire lip area. This procedure is performed on patients who would like to decrease lip volume. Usually, it is performed on patients who have been bothered by their large lips since birth.
